MEMBERS of an amateur dramatics group are preparing to embark on a
whirlwind tour of the borough to promote their latest show.
The performers from The Purple Theatre Company are due to stage a
production called A Slice of Saturday Night next month, and want to encourage as many people
as possible to see it.
They will be visiting several pubs over the next few weeks to hold 60s
themed fancy dress nights, and stage a short set of songs from the decade.
The series of events is designed to fit in with the era in which the new
musical production is set.
Craig Cameron Fisher, publicity manager of the group, which meets in
the 2nd Uxbridge Scout Hut in Gatting Way, Uxbridge, said: "People can look forward to a
mix of classic 60s tracks that they'll already know and love, together with a selection of songs
from the show itself, which they'll grow to love.
"There will be competitions for the best male and female sixties
costumes, raffles, comedy routines and other fun and games."
The first of the promotion shows will be held at The Listen Inn, in High Street, Ruislip, on Friday from
9-10pm, the second at the Abrook Arms, Harefield Road, Uxbridge, from 8.30-10.30pm on October 17
and the third at the Fox and Pheasant, in Station Road, West Drayton, from 9-10pm on October 23.
This final event will cost £2 to enter, but the other shows are free.
The show itself will be staged at The Compass Theatre, in Glebe Avenue, Ickenharn, from November 17-20.
