The cast of Interesting Times

Once again the Purple Theatre Company has knocked the socks off audiences nightly with its latest performance, the stage adaptation of Terry Pratchett's 'Interesting Times'. "Rolling in the aisles" was a comment from an audience member when describing her enjoyment of the play. Another member of the audience, Matt Burrell, insisted he would find a way of joining the group despite the fact that he lives in Abergavenny, Wales, he was so impressed by the performance and the company itself.

On the Wednesday a great buzz was in the air: a result of Opening Night nervousness and adrenaline. Rez Mossavat and Joanne Reeves-Baker who directed the play used everything from vocal exercises to reiki to allay any fears and infuse the cast with energy. They had every confidence in the talent and abilities of their team. By the end of the night both relief and excitement reigned; the show had been a great success, the audience had laughed and clapped and each night performances got better and better.

By the Saturday night the show reached its pinnacle, with a standing ovation to prove it. The constant laughter was a true phenomenon and the fans asking for signatures in their programmes testified to the amusement and delight felt by the audience. Many members of the company were ready to collapse after the show, but were quickly rejuvenated once they got to the After-Show Party, where friends old and new partied like mad, clinging onto beer, wine or cocktail for dear life!

Members of the audience have remarked on a multitude of aspects that amazed them about the Purple Theatre Company. As well as the general feeling that this is a group of superbly talented and inspired actors, our crew had outshone with their cunning screen projections and hilarious sound effects and music, the design work, photography and display boards were said to be of the highest standards, and even the professionalism both in manner and appearance of the Front of House ushers was commented on in the most positive way.

If you caught the show - thank you so much for your support, your laughter and your cheers, and we hope to see you again soon…if not, don't panic! Our next show, 'Eighty Days', a musical adaptation of Jules Verne's 'Around the World in Eighty Days' by our very own Peter Burnett and Toby Vennard opens on 12 November 03…put the date in your diaries now!! Or better still, if you want to audition, call us on 07050 605081 or email us by clicking on 'Click to email' and we'll give you all the info. We'd love to hear from you!

The Purple Theatre Company would like to take this opportunity to thank the Compass Theatre, the Hillingdon Arts Council, the generous companies who donated towards raffle prizes and production of flyers and everyone else involved for their contribution towards making this a hugely successful and memorable show. Thank You!!!
