Counting Down

By Jeeves
Interesting Times
by Terry Pratchett

Synopsis

Many years ago, Rincewind was given charge of the Discworld’s first tourist, Twoflower. On his return to the Agatean Empire, Twoflower wrote a book - ‘What I did on my holiday’ for which he was cast into the dungeons of the forbidden city.

Now, the alternative lifestyle described in his book has become the ‘manifesto’ for a revolution against the imperial regime. Meanwhile, the aging Emperor is dying, and his War Lords wait like circling vultures to see who will next occupy the throne. The smart money is on the current Grand Visier, Lord Hong, whose plots are already starting to be played out.

Re-enter Rincewind, who must answer a demand made to the Unseen University for them to send ‘The Great Wizzard’ to the forbidden city. With his usual incompetence, Rincewind throws a spanner in the works, in fact a whole bag of spanners. Old, rusty, broken spanners in the shape of Ghenghis Cohen and his Horde of octogenarian barbarians!

Is Rincewind the prophesied ‘Great Wizzard’ of ancient legend, who the revolutionaries have been waiting for. Returned to lead the Red Army to victory over the evil forces of oppression and free the people?
