A Slice Of Saturday Night
by The Heather Brothers

Synopsis

The Heather Brothers, Lea, Neil and John, were born in London but raised in Zimbabwe where they formed a teenage band. When they returned to England they worked as contract composers for a major record label before going on to write stage musicals.

A Slice of Saturday Night was first produced by the Brighton Actors Theatre at the Nightingale, Brighton. It was a smash hit success at the King's Head Theatre, Islington in 1989 and enjoyed a long run with its West End debut at London’s Arts Theatre. Following a successful national tour it returned to the West End at the Strand Theatre in 1993 for a twelve week run.

Since then it has been staged in nine different languages to more than ten million people all over the world. Retitled Café a Go Go it is currently playing off-Broadway. In 1999 the musical enjoyed a successful tour of Britain, with Barbara Dickson starring as ex-dancer Erica ‘Be-Bop’ Devine, owner of the Club-a-Go-Go!

The Heather Brothers also wrote Big Sin City, Cold Sweat, The Comeback, Gratuitous Sex & Violence (and good ol' Rock 'n Roll), Lust (a musical based on William Wycherley’s popular Restoration comedy, The Country Wife) and the thriller, Blood Money.

John Heather kindly sent us his good wishes for the show:
"If the audience and the Purple Theatre Company enjoy watching and performing A Slice of Saturday Night even half as much as we enjoyed writing it you'll have a ball! All the best to all concerned."
